Watch the compact ISC Block-Type beveler handle small bore tubing with precision

Overview

The ISC Block Type Series represents our precision solution for small-diameter tube beveling in boiler and heat exchanger applications. Using fixed cushion blocks matched to specific pipe diameters, these OD-mounted machines deliver exceptional concentricity and stability in confined tube bank environments.

Key Advantages

  • Bidirectional clamping - Two-way block action ensures perfect centering
  • Maximum rigidity - Fixed blocks eliminate play for precision bevels
  • Ultra-compact - Lightest OD-mounted series at only 8-11kg
  • Complete block sets - All sizes included for full range coverage

Why Block Clamping?

Unlike self-centering mechanisms, block clamping uses precision-sized cushion blocks that match the exact pipe OD:

  • Maximum rigidity - No play or flex in the clamping
  • Perfect centering - When block matches pipe size
  • Ideal for production - Repetitive runs of same diameter
  • Handles out-of-round - Better tolerance for imperfect pipes

Which Model Should You Choose?

For economizer and small boiler tubes (25-63mm OD):
The ISC-63C is purpose-built for boiler water wall panels and economizer sections. If 90% of your work falls within this range, it’s the most practical choice—and the lightest at just 8kg.

For mixed tube work (25-76mm OD):
Choose the ISC-76C for shops handling varied tube sizes. The slightly wider range provides flexibility without much weight penalty. Our most versatile block-type model.

For superheater and reheater tubes (63-89mm OD):
The ISC-89C targets the specific range common in high-temperature boiler sections. If your plant specializes in power generation components, this is the workhorse.

For larger tubes approaching small pipe (76-114mm OD):
The ISC-114C handles the upper boundary of tube work. Beyond 114mm, we generally recommend transitioning to our SOC Chuck Type or Cam-Type series for better performance.

Key Features

Bidirectional Block Clamping

Two-way clamping action centers the tool precisely on pipe OD, more stable than single-point clamps.

Interchangeable Cushion Blocks

Multiple block sizes included to match exact pipe diameters for optimal grip and concentricity.

Automatic Tool Feed

Synchronized feeding mechanism ensures uniform chip load and extends tool life.

Ultra-Compact Design

Lightest OD-mounted series at 8-11kg, purpose-built for confined tube bank work.

Cold Cutting Process

No sparks or heat, safe for use near flammable materials and in hazardous areas.

Quick Block Change

Simple block change system allows rapid adaptation between different pipe sizes.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is ISC different from Cam-Type?

ISC uses fixed cushion blocks sized to specific pipe diameters, providing rigid clamping. Cam-Type uses a cam-lever mechanism for faster self-centering but covers a wider range per model. ISC is more stable; Cam-Type is faster to set up.

Why are multiple block sizes included?

Each pipe diameter needs a matching block for proper grip. Blocks that are too large won't center correctly; blocks too small won't clamp securely. The included set covers all sizes in that model's range.

Can ISC work on stainless steel tubes?

Yes, ISC machines handle carbon steel, stainless steel, and alloy tubes. Use appropriate cutting speed and carbide inserts for stainless applications.

What bevel angles are available?

Standard 37.5° bevel cutter included. Optional 30° and 45° cutters available. Compound bevels possible with appropriate tooling.

Is this suitable for row tube work?

Yes, the compact profile is specifically designed for tube bank applications where adjacent tubes limit access.

How do I select the right block size?

Use the block that matches your pipe OD exactly or is slightly larger. For example, use a 57mm block for 56-57mm pipes. Never force a smaller block onto a larger pipe.

What maintenance is required?

Regular cleaning of cushion blocks, lubrication of clamping mechanism, and inspection of carbide inserts. Blocks should be replaced if worn or damaged.
