Choosing an LPM Pipe Facing Model

Our LPM Facing Series covers 3.17-114mm OD

1. Battery or corded?

Field / cleanroom work → Choose DC models (battery-powered). Portable, no cord management.

Workshop / high volume → Choose AC models (corded). Unlimited runtime, lower cost.

2. What's your tube OD range?

Very small (3-12.7mm) → LPM-0.5
Standard (6.35-50.8mm) → LPM-2.0 (most popular)
Larger tubes (9.53-114mm) → LPM-4.0 or LPM-4.5

3. Orbital welding application?

For pharmaceutical and semiconductor orbital welding, tube end squareness is critical. Our facing machines produce perfectly perpendicular ends for consistent fit-up.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a pipe facing machine used for?

Pipe facing machines create perfectly flat, perpendicular end faces on pipes. This is critical for orbital welding, flange connections, and precision fit-up requirements.

What's the difference between facing and beveling?

Facing creates a flat, square end face. Beveling creates an angled edge for weld groove preparation. Many applications require both operations.

Why is pipe facing important for orbital welding?

Orbital welding requires precise fit-up with minimal gap variation. Pipe facing ensures both pipe ends meet perfectly flat and parallel for consistent weld quality.

Can facing machines handle out-of-round pipes?

Yes, our machines can handle typical pipe ovality. The ID-mounting design references the pipe bore for consistent wall thickness around the circumference.

What surface finish is achievable?

Our machines typically produce Ra 1.6 to Ra 6.3 surface finish, suitable for gasket sealing and direct welding applications.

Do you offer combination facing and beveling machines?

Yes, many of our models accept both facing and beveling tools. This allows complete end preparation in a single setup.
